Meet Brittney – Founder & Heart
Behind Our Schools
Brittney brings over 14 years of experience in licensed childcare
facilities—and a lifetime of passion for nurturing children.
Raised by amazing parents who fostered over 26 children, Brittney learned early
on the power of love, patience, and care. Growing up with 10 siblings in the
country, she discovered that play was the foundation of learning.
Now a proud mother of 5, Brittney draws inspiration from her childhood, where
her parents modeled what it means to be kind, free-spirited, and connected to a
natural way of living.
Her journey has been one of dedication and heart—and today, she opens her
centers as an extension of her passion for education and childcare. Each day,
she pours her love and experience into creating a space where children are
safe, valued, and encouraged to grow through play and discovery.
Rick and Julie Lanicek

Julie and Rick Lanicek are proud North Texas residents who share a passion for family, community, and creating opportunities for children to learn and thrive.
Julie is semi-retired after a successful career in the residential mortgage industry, where she built a reputation for professionalism, integrity, and exceptional customer service. Today, she dedicates much of her time to supporting local nonprofit organizations and, most importantly, making cherished memories with her two beautiful granddaughters. Her love for children and commitment to serving others are at the heart of North Haven Academy.
Rick is a native Texan, a decorated United States Marine Corps veteran, and an experienced supply chain and manufacturing leader in the defense and aerospace industry. Throughout his career, he has led complex operations, built high-performing teams, and developed systems focused on safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. He brings those same values and attention to detail to North Haven Academy, helping ensure that every family experiences a safe, organized, and welcoming environment.
Together, Julie and Rick believe that every child deserves to feel safe, loved, encouraged, and inspired to learn. Their vision for North Haven Academy is to provide more than exceptional childcare—they are committed to creating a place where children develop confidence, curiosity, kindness, and a lifelong love of learning while parents enjoy peace of mind knowing their children are cared for as if they were family.
Julie and Rick live in nearby Van Alstyne with their five rescue dogs. Outside of the academy, they enjoy spending weekends fishing and boating on beautiful Lake Texoma and taking every opportunity to enjoy time with family and friends.
